Privacy policy
Effective 10 October 2026
Composition has no ads and no tracking. It counts how the game is played without knowing who you are, and we don’t sell or share anything about you. Almost everything stays on your iPhone.
Composition is a game made by Babs Technologies, a company registered in the United States with its headquarters in Middletown, Delaware (“we”). This policy explains what the game, and this website, do with information about you.
What stays on your iPhone
Your paintings, your progress through the levels, your settings and the lessons you’ve seen are stored on your device. We can’t see them.
Composition uses your iPhone’s motion sensor to tilt the light on the paintings as you move. That information is used on the device as it happens and is never stored or sent anywhere.
If you ask Composition to remind you about the next board, the reminder is a notification scheduled on your iPhone. No server is involved.
What Apple handles
Composition uses Apple’s Game Center for your player name, friends, leaderboards, challenges, achievements and playing together, and it saves your progress to your iCloud through Game Center, so it carries to a new iPhone. Apple provides these services under Apple’s privacy policy. We don’t receive your Apple Account details, your contacts or your email address. When you play together, the game sends your moves to the other players through Game Center or SharePlay while you play.
Anonymous counts
To find out what to make better, Composition counts a few things that happen in the game: a lesson shown, a round started, finished or lost (with its level or which try it was, and how long it took), a way of playing together chosen, the gallery opened. It also notes basic facts about the device, such as the model, the iOS version and the language.
These counts go to TelemetryDeck, a German analytics company that keeps its data in the European Union. They don’t include your name, your Game Center name or anything you’ve made or typed. Your device is represented only by an identifier that is scrambled (hashed) on your iPhone and again on TelemetryDeck’s servers, so neither we nor they can tell whose device it is, and your IP address isn’t kept. You can turn this off at any time in the game, and it stops at once.
What we keep: your runs on the daily board
When you finish today’s board while signed in to Game Center and iCloud, Composition saves your run: the day, your time, which try it was, and the moves you made. The run is stored in our database on Apple’s iCloud servers, under the identifier Game Center gives you for our games. It’s how other players can race your “ghost”, a replay of your run, and how you can race theirs.
This is the only information we keep that’s tied to you. We use it only to make these races work. We don’t use it to work out who you are, we don’t combine it with anything else, and we never share or sell it.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
We keep runs so they can be raced. To have yours deleted, email privacy@playcomposition.com from any address and tell us your Game Center name. We’ll delete every run saved under it within 30 days and confirm when it’s done. If you sign out of Game Center or iCloud, Composition stops saving new runs.
This website
This website sets no cookies and doesn’t ask you for anything. The first level and the daily board you can play here run in your browser. Your tries at the daily board are kept in this browser only, so it knows how many you have left.
To find out whether the site works, it counts visits and a few things that happen on it through TelemetryDeck: which page was opened and the site that linked to it, a level or board started, finished or lost (with its time), a painting shared, and a link to the App Store opened. Nothing that identifies you is sent, and nothing is stored in your browser for it. Page visits are told apart by TelemetryDeck on its servers, from your IP address and browser and a value that changes every day, which they scramble (hash) and then discard, so the same visitor can’t be recognised from one day to the next. The other counts carry a random number made when the page opens and forgotten when you leave it. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, the site sends nothing at all.
If you share or save your painting, the picture is made in your browser and goes only where you send it.
The site is served by Cloudflare, which handles your IP address to deliver the pages and to protect the site from attacks, under Cloudflare’s privacy policy. We don’t use that information.
Children
Composition is suitable for everyone and asks no one for personal information. Children’s runs are saved in the same way as everyone else’s, only under their Game Center identifier. A parent can ask us to delete them at privacy@playcomposition.com.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@playcomposition.com and we’ll answer within 30 days. If you’re in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll also say so in the game.
